There were a lot of icicles outside during our snowy week, and the kids were very interested to get a closer look at them. (And let's be honest, there was some tasting going on, as well..)
We brought some inside both days that week to observe how they melted.
I had the thought to maybe save some in the freezer before they melted outside,
but didn't act fast enough.
By the next week, they were all gone.
So we explored the interest in some other ways.
Melting Ice Science
We experimented with different ways of melting ice, using salt, water, and then eventually hot water.
Icy Counting
We added twisty-tie "icicles" to a winter tree, practicing our fine motor and counting skills.
We also used clear "icy" gems in a counting puzzle.
