I received a kit to grow an amaryllis as a gift recently, and I thought it would be fun to watch it (hopefully) grow in preschool.
When I opened the box, it had already started to sprout, which gave us some interesting things to look at. We also watched the soil mixture grow as it absorbed the water.
We're going to observe and document it's growth over the next few weeks, and hopefully see the beautiful winter flower when it blooms.
That one droopy sprout only started to look worse later, so I ended up removing it.
I found this one day during class.
I think some kids might be a little impatient waiting for it to bloom...
